Trillions -
Sep 24, 2009 - 5:11:27 PM
By Jerry Ahern
The United States calculates the concept of a Trillion differently than is done in England -- thank God! If we used the British system, we’d be in even worse trouble than we are monetarily... The Democrats in the United States Congress would have to spend lots more taxpayer dollars to get us trillions of dollars in debt if we used the British system...
"The Survivalist" Rides Again! -

I’ve never been above shameless self-promotion. To prove that, I’m
going to talk about the return – sort of – of “John Rourke.” Years
ago, when I was working as Associate Editor of GUNS Magazine, I began
noticing all the publicity and advertising associated with everything
from retreat properties to special vitamins, all aimed at the
then-growing survivalism market.
The Ice Floe -

Will Fearless Leader Be Set Adrift On The Ice Floe Someday? It's largely considered a myth that Eskimos would consign their failing elderly to an ice floe, set adrift to die a lonely death, because the tribe can no longer care for them. In early August, the guy in the White House will turn forty-eight.
The Last Roundup? -

I liked... the “Range Rider” so much that I dressed like him – keep in mind, I was maybe six or seven, okay? – when my mom and dad would take me to what used to be called the “Oak Lawn Roundup.” It was a frontier days celebration... I found out this morning that Oak Lawn may, one day, figure prominently in my life once again. The Hilton in Oak Lawn, Illinois, is hosting a July 19th conference, the title of which is “The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam.”

In Michael Mann's "Public Enemies," the always surprising Johnny Depp is superbly cast as Johnny Dillinger in a film that will doubtlessly be seen for years to come as the ultimate gangster movie.
Symbols -

Our lives are infused with many symbols, some highly personal, some
essentially universal. Lovers may have symbols – a particular park
bench, an enigmatic inscription on a ring, a shared favorite song –
which are quite private, their meaning rooted in memory.
SMOKESCREEN -

I’ll admit that I was stupid, stupid for many, many years. I smoked
two and one-half packs of cigarettes a day, the un-filtered kind.
And, darn it, I had the heart attack to prove it! Actually, my heart
attack – six years ago – was a pretty minor one. I had two
angioplasties and the appropriate stints and I’m healthier and stronger
in my early sixties than I ever was in my fifties.
One Win For Our Side -

At about five-thirty yesterday evening, the lengthy feature that was to
have gone in today's editions of both the Outdoor and Shooting Wires
was rendered unnecessary. Normally, that's not a reason for
celebration. But this was no ordinary occurrence.
No Longer Just Paranoia -

For months, anyone who's proffered the position that the Obama
Administration was anti-gun has been dismissed as being a variety of
things, from sore loser to rampant paranoid. Nonetheless, since
assuming office, members of the Obama administration have steadily- and
stealthily- moved against firearms and ammunition.

Let's talk about all the positive events taking place on the world stage, as this is written. Now, let's talk about all the negative events...
